Ashley Peck, cellist and pianist in Portland, OR, is experienced both as a music educator as well as a performer. With a strong background in classical music, Ms. Peck enjoys a wide variety of styles of music. While her teaching methods are generally traditional, her goals are always for her students to experience joy in their musical ventures. With a Bachelors' Degree in Music from Portland State University, Ms. Peck's performing career is also mostly classically based, but she enjoys diversity in her performing repertoire. She has appeared with musicians ranging from the legendary Janos Starker to the hip and modern Kanye West. She has studied with such teachers as Portland's own cellist Hamilton Cheifetz and the Pacific Northwest favorite pianist Dr. Rachelle McCabe.
TEACHING
Ashley Peck is an experienced teacher, having taught both cello and piano to students of various ages and skill levels. Her vision is for her students to have a fantastic experience with music, whether they are six years old and just beginning their musical journey or sixty-six and picking up an instrument for the first time. Not every one plans to become a professional musician, but any one can experience the joy of music for a lifetime!
Ms. Peck customizes her curriculum based on individual student needs and goals. She often spends much of her free time developing curriculum for students and choosing or writing music for them. Currently she teaches cello and piano in the Lake Oswego school district, at Forte Music School, at the Multnomah Arts Center, and at the Matt Dishman Community Center.

ACCOMPANYING
In addition to teaching and performing, Ashley Peck has accompanied many musicians on the piano. She has spent much time with the vocal repertoire as a skilled accompanist and coach for vocal students, whether in a group setting or on an individual basis. Ms. Peck is also comfortable playing anything from short pieces to concertos on the piano for a variety of instruments including violin, viola, cello, double bass, trumpet, trombone, and more.
